The Judging

An independent judging panel will assess all entries, short-listing finalists in each category before deciding on a winner. Judges have been selected on the basis of their expertise and knowledge of the industry, with impartiality central to the judging process.

The judges for the Fairfax Employment Marketing Awards for 2009 are:

Dr Katherine King
Director of People and Organisational Development – St Vincent’s Hospital

As the Director of People and Organisational Development for St Vincent’s Hospital, Katherine has been instrumental in creating one of the most successful branding campaigns within the public health sector in Victoria for Australia’s largest not for profit health provider. With over 15 years experience and an intricate understanding of attraction, selection and retention strategies, past roles include Head of Recruitment and Integration for the National Australia Bank, National Manager of Learning and Development for Australia Post and Learning and Organisational Development Manager for Sony, New York.

 

Nicholas Ricciuti
Managing Director of Reinvent Your Career

Nic has been operating in senior high level business positions in events, media, publishing, telecommunications and retail circles for over 25 years. Dealing specifically in the ‘Employer Branding’ area with youth and generation ‘y’, Nic identified a totally neglected adult market in 2007. Nic now focuses on assisting major organisations by creating employer branding communication channels for the primary 25 to 54 year old demographic. The concept called ‘Reinvent Your Career’, from which has grown the highly successful Reinvent Your Career Expo – a career expo that delivers organisations to meet ‘Real Age’ career people.

 

Paul Bradshaw
State Services Authority, Workforce Planning and Development

Paul is Principal Adviser for Attraction and Recruitment with the Workforce Planning and Development Division of the State Services Authority of the Victorian Government. Paul is a specialist in recruitment advertising and employment brand development, with experience gained at a senior level in both mainstream, brand recruitment advertising agencies. He has significant expertise in how to establish a meaningful understanding of target markets and how to open successful communications channels. His most recent work includes: producing the Best Practice Selection and Recruitment tool kit; contract management and development of the Victorian Government eRecruitment system; and a toolkit (including website) for secondary and tertiary level Career Coordinators to use to guide career and education pathways for employment in the Victoria public sector.

 

Julie Mills
CEO of the RCSA (Recruitment & Consulting Services Association)

Julie has been a driving force behind the RCSA’s growth in terms of membership, public profile and impact on policy issues, over the past decade. Her recent achievements include the successful launch of remaginet, the commercial arm of the RCSA which delivers education and business services. Julie represents the recruitment industry on a number of panels and committees and in a range of speaking forums. She has become an important voice in the employment and industrial relations landscape, a fact demonstrated by her appointment to bodies including the Federal Government’s Business Advisory Group.

 

Mick Bakos
Senior Art Director for DraftFCB Melbourne

Mick has 17 years of experience in the Advertising industry, and is currently with DraftFCB Melbourne as Senior Art Director. For the past two and a half years there, he has been responsible for creating highly effective campaigns for Honda, Kraft, Vitasoy and Angus & Robertson. Mick was based in Singapore for a four year stint at DDB Worldwide working on Philips, ExxonMobil and Johnson & Johnson for the AsiaPacific region, as well as the Tiger Beer and Courts businesses for the local Singaporean market. Remaining in Asia, he freelanced at M&C Saatchi, TBWA, BBH, EuroRSCG, Bates, Grey and JWT Manila on local and regional projects in the Government, FMCG, retail, airline, finance and telecommunications sectors. Prior to that he spent four years at DDB Melbourne, and a further five years at numerous smaller Melbourne agencies.

 

Noeleen Langford
Channel Development Manager (The Age)

As the Channel Development Manager at The Age Noeleen, has been responsible for creating and facilitating the highly successful Creative Ad Writing workshops. With over 14 years experience in Human Resources and Learning & Development with companies such as Motorola, Telstra and the ANZ Bank she has a thorough understanding of attraction and retention strategies. Noeleen is a sought after guest speaker and has appeared as an expert speaker in many public forums such as the Australasian Employer Branding Summit, AHRI National convention and Engineering Australia.Her most recent work includes: author of the successful Recruitment Ad Writing Handbook.

 

Karina Ward
Director, Hum Consulting

With 15 years experience in sales, marketing and management in Australia and the UK, Karina Ward is a results driven professional who founded freelance marketing company, Hum Consulting, in 2008. Karina has worked across B2B and consumer sectors and believes that the principals of bold marketing, sales tenacity and genuine employee engagement are at the heart of most successful brands. Her early career was spent in the training, development and recruitment sectors, before her lifelong passion for all things gastronomique led her to the food and wine industry. As Director of Hum Consulting she now draws on that diverse experience, as she continues to serve clients in the corporate world and beyond. Previous roles include Head of Marketing Communications, Thomson Learning International and National Marketing Manager at LINK Recruitment.
